New God Father!

Over the last 20 years or so I have been asked to be the God Father for 5 people being Baptized and brought into the Catholic Church.

Most recently was last year, and my new God Son, Bo Gavin (and his mom, although she had her own God Family and Sponsor), asked me to by his God Father and Sponsor into the Church.

Check out the great begging of their new life in Christ here!

It is my honor to be his God Father!!

Wow, it has been just 4 days shy of a year since I last posted here! This is not good. Even worse, my spiritual life has been a bit slack as well.  I've changed that recently, and you will be seeing more here as I talk more on religion, my…

Back at the end of October of 2020, I moved to a new Dioceses and a new Church.  Bought a house to live in for the rest of my life, barring any changes in that area. There is a Catholic Church 9/10ths of a mile from my house!  The Pastor…

Yep, more changes in my life! I am in the first stages of moving fully into the life of a Diocesan Hermit.  By that I mean, I am living the Rule of life, but must live it for six month to two years under Private Vows at which time, if…

At  the Saturday Easter Vigil before Easter of 2008 I was accepted into the Catholic Church.  This was a happy day for me, with my Superior General there as my Sponsor into the Church, my mother, father, sister and niece all present to watch me enter into the Church. This…

Sunday is a Holy Day of Obligation in the Catholic Church.  What this means is you are "required" as part of being Catholic to go to Church every Sunday and "keep it Holy" by dedicating the day to the Lord. Here in the US, because many people started taking jobs…

New Church For Me…

Back at the end of October of 2020, I moved to a new Dioceses and a new Church.  Bought a house to live in for the rest of my life, barring any changes in that area.

There is a Catholic Church 9/10ths of a mile from my house!  The Pastor there is new to the Church, having been there for about a year, coming from Miami after several years working in the pre-seminary and seminary.

He is a very good Homilist, and looks to be a good overall Priest, actually a Monsignor.

During this Covid mess, he has kept his Church doors open, granted with distancing and recommending masks but doesn’t require masks (at least since I’ve been there) if you have medical reasons to not wear one.  (Some places require it regardless of your health status.)

This was a VERY positive move for me in many ways.  I am back, to almost daily Mass, doing my 7 hours of praying most days, and things are getting back in line!

Well, for the past month and a half, I have been a bit slack on my spiritual life.  I haven't really been reading much in the way of theology or within my faith (although I have done some "recreational" reading), and I have missed more of my prayer hours that…

Daily Readings

After a LONG, too LONG, sabbatical, I am returning to posting the Daily Readings on this page.  These “readings” are the daily reading of the Bible as practiced by the Catholic Church.  If you go to Church every day of the week, all year, you are taught the majority of the Bible and you are taught, through the Homilies given by the Priest what that series of readings means, and the priest will often tie the readings to events today.

I will attempt to keep this up daily from now until I can’t any more… 🙂  I hope you enjoy the readings and thoughts after the readings.

In Christ!

Over the next several posts I will be posting on Catholic Apologetics topics. What is Apologetics?  It is the giving of a reasoned explanation of ones faith, the the Churches interpretation of the Bible and tradition.  So, to that affect, I will be talking on specific topics and why the…

With much unhappiness, I'm bringing down the Daily Readings permanently. The database got badly hosed up and I would have had to basically start all over, loosing all history and prior readings, which is doable, but a lot of hassle I felt. It is better to go to Mass everyday…
